June Dobson has lived and worked on her family dairy farm in the Blackdown Hills for all of her married life. The farm and its local surrounding countryside have given June the inspiration for her art and other projects that she undertakes. Painting in oils is her preference; it allows her to express the passion she has for colour and to capture the bold characteristics she finds in her favourite subjects; landscapes, cattle and Poppies. In June’s pottery she makes thrown oven to table ware in a variety of classic colours and hand built sculptural pots in bold designs using hedgerow flora and fauna for inspiration. The flora theme runs through into her silver jewellery, making beautiful pendants using precious metal silver clay, this is handled in the same way as normal clay, dried and then fired to burn off the organic compound leaving you with a pure silver pendant once polished.
